My mom decided to rent a place at the beach for a week so we could enjoy a little staycation! Unfortunately, the original place she booked didn't start out well. My brothers and her stayed there for a night and we were supposed to join them the next day but there was an unexpected visitor...a mouse! My mom is petrified of mice, and of course we didn't want to bring Jack to a place with mice, so they had to pack everything up and head to my place where we frantically looked for another place to stay at the last minute. We did manage to save the day by spending it at the beach and in the end we found an even better place to rent so it all worked out. We were walking distance to the beach and a great playground and walking distance to the little downtown area in San Clemente. We spent every day at the beach, walked to dinner two different nights and just enjoyed the time together! Even though we were only 20 minutes from home, it truly felt like a vacation. When I'm home, it's not easy to relax with the constant list of to-do's in my head but I was able to turn that to-do list off and really relax...well as much as you can with a 4 month old and 4 year old to take care ;) John could only stay a couple days before having to get back to work but me and the kids stayed the entire week. It was a wonderful week!
We spent the day in Laguna Beach after the disaster with the mouse delayed our staycation. Jack enjoyed the natural sound machine of the ocean :)
