Cape Cod 2015

Our trip to Cape Cod did not go as planned. Before we even left, Jos was diagnosed with strep throat and John was diagnosed with pneumonia.  Luckily after a round of antibiotics, Jos was better but John's Dr. recommended that he not fly because after a week of medicine and rest, he still was not better.  We talked a lot about it and the day of our flight he decided he was well enough to get on the plane. There was no way he was missing his one chance a year to see his family! He had a few good days on the Cape and was starting to feel better and then got strep throat! He had to extend his trip, even staying after me and the kids left, to fully recover before flying back home. It was definitely not the vacation we had planned but in the end, our trips to the Cape are about family and it was wonderful to have us all under the same roof.  Not that it wasn't an insane week with 4 children, ages 1 to 16, in the same house!  Our time with John's entire family is so rare and we really try to enjoy the time we have together. It was great to see Jos and Jack play with their cousins and show Jack all our favorite places on the Cape!

Both kids did great on the flight there and the flight back.  They both slept the entire way there!

I tried something different this trip and went kayaking on Bass River. It was fun!

Jack's first visit to our favorite spot on the Cape, Bass Hole!  There were a lot of "don't let him fall in the water!" moments.

I'm lucky to call all these people family!

These crazy kids celebrated 40 years of marriage in June so we surprised them with a cake.

Another trip to Four Seas! You can never have too much ice cream!

John was feeling awful at this point but we still got the traditional brothers in front of the brick wall picture.

And started the tradition with the younger generation.

  

We went to check out the Cape Cod Natural History Museum with GaGa. 

We spent another day at the beach.

Uncle Brian came to spend a few days with us on the Cape so we took him to Provincetown.  Jos was looking stylish at lunch.

We made a quick stop at Race Point Beach to check out a little bit of the National Seashore.

Then it was time to head back home!
