Trot Trot to Boston

On the way to France, we had a 2 day layover in Boston.  We decided to do a long layover for a few reasons. I had never really seen Boston (usually just land there and drive to the Cape), we had never taken a just us (the Z family of 3) vacation of any kind and we thought it would be best to break up the long flights and slowly get Joslyn adjusted to the time change.  It was a fun, kid-friendly two days in Boston filled with many firsts.  It was our first just us vacation, Jos's first time staying in a hotel (she was most impressed with the phone) and my first time seeing Boston!

Jos didn't love being in the car seat on the plane (we didn't use it on any of the other flights and won't bring it on the plane again) but she did great and slept for a couple hours and then was entertained with the iPad, coloring and snacks for the rest of the time.  I didn't even use many of the busy bags.  We got in VERY early on Tuesday morning and didn't think we would be able to check into our hotel but thanks to the kind woman at the Hilton we got our room early and everyone was able to take a nap!  When everyone was well rested, we got on the hotel shuttle to the subway line and Jos took her very first subway ride to the aquarium!  We spent the whole day checking out the aquarium, Jos's favorites were the penguins and mine was the huge turtle, and then grabbed some dinner in the hotel restaurant.

On our second day in Boston, I wanted to do some walking around and check out the Public Garden but it was extremely hot and humid so we changed our plans and headed to the Boston's Children Museum instead. I cannot stress this enough. If you live near Boston, get a season pass! This place was amazing! Jos loved every room and exhibit and we could have spent the entire day there, actually we did! The toddler room alone would have kept her busy for 3 hours.  She also loved the ball area and the stairs, of course. Her favorite thing anywhere are stairs.  John had a lot of fun in there too and I had fun taking lots of pictures!

We grabbed some dinner, headed back to the hotel to pick up our bags and then went to the airport to meet everyone else for our plane to France! Jos must have had a good time at the Children's Museum because she fell asleep as soon as we took off and didn't wake up until we were about to land!
