Jack's 1st Month

- Born 3/3/14 at 8:03am.  7lbs 10oz and 19” long.  Left the hospital weighing 7lbs 5oz.

- did great at nursing right away.  Had a little difficulty getting the correct latch and I had to use a nipple shield for a little bit to get him to latch on the right but we worked on it and it’s getting better.  

- not a big fan of sponge baths
- eats so fast that he chokes and then gasps for air. I have to blow in his face to get him to breathe. Freaks daddy out.

- doesn’t like the car seat

- loves to be held upright on your shoulder or laying stomach down on your chest

- wets through diapers constantly.  Looked up advice online and it said to point the penis down when putting on the diaper and that solved the problem.  Oh the joys of having a boy!

- Loves putting his hands in front of his face, above his head and over his ears when he’s sleeping.  

- sleeping in 3-4 hour increments. Much better than his sister at this age!

- 1st Dr. check up (3/10), weighs 7lbs 8oz (35%)

- gets the hiccups and sneezes all the time

- first shopping trip (3/16) did not go well. We got to the store and he started screaming and didn’t stop the entire time. John said we can never leave house again.

- first MOMS club party (3/17) went a lot better. I put him in the Boba carrier and he was happy and then fell asleep after I nursed him.  

- 1st Dr. appointment (3/18): weight 8lbs 4 oz (39%), height 20 ¼” (31%) and head 14 ½” (79%)

- cord fell off (3/20). Had his first real bath and liked it a lot more than sponge baths.

- constantly moving his legs and arms and trying to lift his head. Has a lot of neck strength already.  Moves just as much outside the womb as he did inside!

- loves laying on the play mat but doesn’t really like the swing

- drank from a bottle for the 1st time (3/28), even with me in the house!

- resists a morning nap a lot and then gets overtired and won’t sleep anywhere but my arms

- had a few fussy nights when he didn’t go to sleep until 11pm and then kept waking up every hour

- loves being in the carrier, usually falls asleep when I’m using it.  

- a couple times he was fussing like he was waking up so I turned the hair dryer on to dry my hair and he fell back asleep. Also worked to calm him down once when John was trying to get him to sleep.  

- always wants to nurse to soothe but then spits up a lot

- loves looking at the light in our room and shadows on the wall

- still working on getting him to take a pacifier

- wearing size 1 diapers

- wearing 3 months tops but bottoms are too big.  Looks like he might have gotten Grandpa V’s stubby legs.  

We had newborn pictures taken at our home when Jack was only 6 days old.
