Life According to Z: Jack at 17 Months

- points at his blanket when he gets up in the morning or from a nap and wants to sit with me in the rocking chair with a book
- says “cheeeese” when you take his picture
- loves going to the playground now because he can climb the structures and go down the slides all by himself!
- has a smoothie every morning because I can't get him to sit down to eat breakfast. He loves them! Gets excited when I turn the blender on.
- loves to pitch to you and play baseball
- lets us know what he wants to watch on TV. "Choo Choo" is Thomas or Chuggington, "Rawr!" is Masha and the Bear, "Oo Oo Oo" is Curious George and he claps when he wants to watch Little Einsteins. He says "Elmo" for Sesame Street.
- falls asleep on his own if I lay him down awake...finally! I still rock him a little and then lay him down.
- loves to wear hats
- figured out how to rock his rocking horse by himself
- goes limp when you are picking him up to do something he doesn't want to do
- hates being put in the play pen in the playroom
- loves to put on our shoes
- is getting a little picky with food. But still eats a lot when it's something he wants to eat.
- says "jump" every time he jumps off something
- loves sitting at the little table
- went to the dentist for the 1st time (8/26). Did really well and let the dentist look at his teeth and clean them. I was surprised he sat still for it!
- yells "MA MA!" when he wants my attention
- saying so many new words. He is great at repeating what you say and if he doesn’t exactly say the same word, he copies your intonation.
- likes to go down slides on his stomach!
- grabs his diaper and says “poop”
- sings along to the SpongeBob SquarePants theme song (can say “SpongeBob”) and plays an imaginary flute at the end, just like daddy and Jos.
- wearing 18-24 months. 18 month pjs and shirts getting small, pants/shorts are fine because of his stubby legs.
