Life According to Z: Joslyn at 9 Months

- Dr. appointment: 18lbs 6oz (50th percentile), 26 inches long (25th percentile). Growing and developing perfectly! Dr. felt her first tooth! I had no idea it was there, not fussy at all and I never felt it while nursing her. It's on the bottom front. Had her second dose of the flu shot, no reaction.
- took her to JCPenney for her 9 month/Easter pictures. She was ADORABLE! I had to get a CD will all the images because there were too many I wanted. There were some kids waiting next to us and she kept staring and smiling at them. She loves kids! The woman working there said I better give her a brother or sister.
- took her mobile off the crib since she's getting up on her hands and knees and I read it could be a strangulation risk. Another baby item gone, she's growing up too fast!
- crawling!
- loves hitting her rings on the hardwood floor
- Daddy taught her how to bang her ring, or her rattle, on her toy drum. Also taught her to bang two toys together.
- likes playing with the handles on the coffee table and china hutch
- had yogurt for the first time (3/19), loved it!
- had her first spice (basil) and cheese (3/19). Made a cauliflower, carrot, tomato, cheese and basil meal and she ate it up!
- likes Puffs but tries to put too many in her mouth, and gets most of them on her chest and highchair instead of her mouth.
- say "ma ma" and "da da" but not really to us, well sometimes she does
- still only signing dog. I've tried "milk", "eat", "more", "all done", "Mom", "Dad"...nope, she'll just stick with dog. She does seem to understand what the sign for "all done" means but she won't sign it.
- likes it when John moves his finger up and down her mouth while she's making noises. If you stop doing it, she will move her mouth to your hand. Also loves making noises when we bounce her on our knees. She loves the funny sound it makes.
- loves peek-a-boo. I put her burp cloth over her face and she pulls it off and smiles. She'll also hide behind the burp cloth on her own.
- gives open mouth kisses, at least I think they're kisses. Or she's just trying to eat my face.
- naps twice a day
- loves remotes, any remote, and my iPhone
- had one great week of her sleeping through the night but she's back to waking up once a night to eat. But sleeping through the night more often.
- nursing less often during the day and for shorter amounts of time. She will only nurse for 5 minutes and then she has to get moving.
- looks at me when I say "no" but doesn't usually stop what she's doing. Sometimes she'll even smile at me like, "who are you kidding? I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing."
- throws everything on the floor
- raises her arm straight out. Is this her version of a wave?!
- goes from sitting to crawling and crawling to sitting
- loves standing up on the couch
- likes climbing on the arm of the couch and reaching for her high chair
- bites our fingers
- puts her fingers in our mouths and grabs our teeth
- pulls herself up in her crib, had to move the mattress down
- started chewing on the crib railings, need to get protective guards for them
- has this new high pitch scream when we're doing something she doesn't like. Tantrums already?!
- loves yogurt melts, puts too many in her mouth like with the puffs. Has to have one in her right hand while she eats with the left.
- understands what to do with the sippy cup but doesn't want to drink the water in it. If she gets some in her mouth, she makes a funny face.
- clicks her tongue
- went on the swings for the first time (3/31)
- can stack all her rings....and loves it when there is an audience to clap for her when she does it
- moves her butt up and down when she's excited about something
- grandma Sue got her bubbles and she started crying the first time we blew them for her. She's still not quite sure about them.
- very determined
- allergic to Abby's kisses. Breaks out in hives wherever Abby licks her, but don't seem to bother her or itch.
- has a runny nose that won't stop
- throws her toys out of the tub. I'll put them back in and then she throws them out again. Also stacks them on the side of the tub and then waves at them.
- gave her small pieces of banana. She ate them when I put them in her mouth but she didn't want to touch them. My prissy girl doesn't want to touch mushy food.
- 2nd tooth popped through next to the other one in the bottom front. Didn't know until we felt it because she was not fussy at all.
- says "dah" and something that sounds like Abby when she sees her
- doesn't need us to put our finger on her mouth to make the noise anymore. Does it herself.
- gets up on her hands and feet with her butt in the air
- loves books, takes them out of her bookshelf. Favorites are 10 Friendly Fireflies, 10 Little Ladybugs and any Elmo book.
- scoots backwards on her butt
